The girl lying down opened her mouth. Her lips twitched, before she suddenly closed it again. “Never mind, forget it, go sleep, we were just unlucky.”

”Hey, don’t do that, just say what you were planning to.” The girl shaving the apple sqeueezed her way over. She had been quite concerned at her friend’s constant silence all this while. Now that her friend seemed to have something on her mind but didn’t want to share, she kept pushing enthusiastically.

”Eh… your parents didn’t say anything about this? What did they tell you to do?” The girl lying down didn’t reply, and instead asked another question.

”What else can I do, my mom told me to go home, rest for a few days, take a few days off before going back to work.” The girl shaving the apple replied, “she also said… after I’m discharged, I should follow her to the temple to pray and check if something bad had latched onto me.”

”I thought your mom didn’t believe in things like this.” The girl lying on the bed was amused. The other girl said: “Yea she didn’t believe those, but look at what happened today…”

”When it comes to things like this… either you are wholeheartedly superstitious, or you don’t believe it at all – you’ll only sabotage yourself if you’re only one foot in.” The girl lying down finally removed the elbow covering her eyes. She looked at her friend who was still shaving away at her apple, and kicked her leg, “aye, if I were to tell you something, would you believe it?”

”What is it, you can’t just ask me like that, you gotta say it first right.” The girl took a bite of the apple she’d shaved and rolled her eyes.

”Where’s your phone.”

”On my bed.”

”Bring it over, let me show you something.” ♢ YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE DRAWING ME, CHAPTER 51 is hosted at ZHANLANN.COM

Unbeknownst to what was unfolding in the hospital ward, Yuan Yuan Yuan was conscientiously pouring her liquor. As Sister Li’zi watched her pour, she smacked the small stick at her elbow, “can you put some force into this… aren’t you a scholar, why are scholars so dumb…”

“People who has undergone schooling are every day these days Sister Li’zi, as long as you are a registered citizen. But the situation must have been different for your generation – only the wealthy and influencial can attend.” Yuan Yuan Yuan clenched her teeth, and tried to stretch her now completedlt numbed right hand, “but you probably won’t be familiar with what a cotizenship would be too, would you?”

”You focus on practising well, we’ve got a big event the day after tomorrow, if we reallt run out of people, you’ll need to join.” Sister Li’zi looked at Yuan Yuan Yuan and picked up a cup of tea, speaking as she blew at the hot tea.

”What big event?” Yuan Yuan Yuan was so hot she could feel that almost her entire back was coated with sweat. Owing to the incredibly thick makeup caking her face, everything still seemed intact.

”Our demon boss is planning to bring the demons in the vicinity out on a parade, on a hyakki yagyō*.” Sister Li’zi said. “Every year they would come to our saloon for drinks after the parade… not too sure if they will cole this year, regardless we should make the preparations.”

* hyakki yagyō 百鬼夜行 Night Parade of Hundred Ghosts (japanese folklore/legend): refers to a parade of thousands of supernatural creatures known as oni (demons) and yōkai (spirits) that march through the streets of Japan at night

“Wtf?” Yuan Yuan Yuan was startled. The vessel in her hand tilted, and she spilled the alcohol. Armed with a stick, Sister Li’zi expressed her emotions by waving it; resultantly, Yuan Yuan Yuan ran and dodged helplessly in an attempted escape…

Meanwhile in the hospital, the two girls sat together, silence has enveloped the two of them for a long time now.

“Don’t tell the other two about this, they won’t believe it. If they hear about this, they’ll definitely want to try things out for themselves blindly, and get themselves into big trouble.” After a while, one of the girls said.

“Alright.” The other girl inhaled deeply. After a while, she couldn’t help herself but opened the manga again.

“Don’t bother verifying, that’s the guy, I stared so hard and long at him back then, this is the face. Even the moles on his face is exactly the same.”

“…then we’re considered very lucky right, to bump into a human-favouring demon… but my god just that phrase itself is strangely scary, sounds so weird even when I say it. Kinda feels… very chuunibyou.”

* chuunibyou: a Japanese colloquial term typically used to describe early teens who have grandiose delusions, who desperately want to stand out, and who have convinced themselves that they have hidden knowledge or secret powers. It translates to “middle-second syndrome” (i.e., middle-school second-year). It is sometimes called “eighth-grader syndrome” in the United States

“Who knows. I don’t think you need to follow your mom to the temple, just avoid that alley next time, at least we ourselves know what happened today and that’s enough.” The first girl said. She glanced at the manga and suddenly added, “but after looking at him this morning… this guy look so friggin‘ hot in real life.”

“What?”

“His eyes were super nice, and he has a really good physique, and that face… fuck me, it’s unreal.” The first girl’s eyes started drifting, as though caught up in her recollections. “I used to think he looked very feminine… but today I realised how manly he is… gg, if it weren’t for the fact that I can’t go around sharing this, I’d have updated my wechat moments ahh.”

“…calm down girl, do you even know what creature this guy turned from? He might really just be a toad, or a dung beetle?” The second girl looked at her, speechless.

“I bet this guy is definitely a very important character.” The first girl said: “He’s definitely an ultra powerful demon, and he definitely has a badass original form, like dragon, or phoenix, even if it’s not so incredible, I don’t mind a lion or tiger, like how the novels like to write… who knows maybe he’s the boss of some territory even, and comes with his incredibly loaded background story, what do you think.”

“Stop.”

On the other side in the saloon, the ultra powerful demon after having her butt being whipped by Sister Li’zi multiple times was now hiding behind Sister Li’zi’s timid brother.

Enh, this boss of a demon, was indeed very powerful.
